We have many wonderful books in our book basket year round but the ones at Christmas are my very favorites-and there are a ton to choose from! But one of our favorites is Tiny Baby Jesus. I love the ones that call my childrens hearts back to the real meaning of Christmas- Christ. The book is simple with beautiful illustrations and reflects on Jesus as a baby and a man, drawing comparisons like his tiny kicking baby feet and the feet of the man who would walk on water. It reminds us that Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus but so much more happens after that from Jesus’ miracles to his death. We wanted to create an ornament that represented the book and was easy enough for my littlest one to make as well.
Tiny Baby Jesus Ornament
Large craft stick
markers or paint
rafia, straw, or twine
hot glue or craft glue
Cut or gently break wooden craft sticks in half.
Cut felt into 3 1/2″ squares.
Give your child markers and let them draw the face and hair on their Baby Jesus.
then place it in the center of the felt with one corner pointing upward. Fold one side in, fold up the bottom, and finally fold over the other side- securing each with glue.
Flip Baby Jesus over and attach a small piece of chenille stem with glue, making a hook.
Cover with small pieces of cut up rafia or straw to simulate hay.
Your sweet Tiny Baby Jesus Ornament is ready to hang on the tree as a reminder of the real reason for the season!
